The Nu Haven Kapelye, is a Klezmer orchestra made up of musicians from many faiths and all walks of life: amateurs, professionals, young and old.  The 20+ musicians and singers who comprise the Nu Haven Kapelye come together to play and explore the sounds of Klezmer, Eastern European Jewish dance music and Yiddish song. The group is Southern New England’s largest Klezmer orchestra, but perhaps more importantly this group unveils the best of what happens when people of all ages come together to make music.

This fall the group released it's first CD, What's Nu?

THE NU HAVEN KAPELYE

New CD with the Nu Haven Kapelye
The Nu Haven Kapelye, New Haven's own Klezmer Jewish music orchestra has just completed it's first CD, What's Nu?  Thirty four musicians and two singers came together to record thirteen songs ranging from classic Klezmer to Yiddish swing.  After months of recording, overdub sessions, and mixing sessions the CD is finally ready for you to hear.  Some really hot playing and some great solos throughout the album.  Take a listen to What's Nu? and hear just how crazy good and fun a Klezmer orchestra can sound. I am very proud to have produced this recording and written many of the arrangements.

There are some very nice articles out on line about the music and the group.
